About Casa Mia
A Family Story That Feels Like Home

"This is the house for you."

The Story Behind Casa Mia
Casa Mia began in 1999 when Peter and Veronica Curtis were searching for the perfect property in Blantyre. While viewing the house with a family member, they were accompanied by their young niece, Mia. As they walked through the property, she simply smiled and said, "This is the house for you."
Those simple words stayed with them. When it came time to name their new lodge, there was only one choice—Casa Mia, meaning "My Home." From the very beginning, the vision was to create a place where every guest would feel welcomed, comfortable and completely at home.
More than 25 years later, Casa Mia remains proudly family owned and operated by Peter, Veronica and their son Kris. Today, the lodge offers 14 comfortable guest rooms, Kabula Grill restaurant, conference and private event facilities, and an outdoor swimming pool, welcoming business and leisure travellers from across Malawi and around the world.
"Home isn't just a place—it's how you're made to feel. That's the experience we strive to create for every guest who walks through our doors."— Casa Mia

Our Journey
The Casa Mia Story
Peter and Veronica Curtis, owners of the well-known Blue Elephant in Blantyre, were looking for their next venture when they were shown a house in Kabula by a family member. During the viewing, their young niece Mia looked around and simply said, "This is the house for you." That moment inspired the name Casa Mia—"My Home."
Casa Mia Lodge & Restaurant welcomed its first guests, offering comfortable accommodation in a peaceful setting just minutes from the centre of Blantyre. From the beginning, the goal was simple: create a place where every guest feels genuinely at home.
With Peter's background as a professional butcher, exceptional meat has always been at the heart of Casa Mia. Today, our steaks are butchered and dry-aged in-house, our pasta is made fresh daily, and Kabula Grill has earned a reputation as one of Blantyre's favourite restaurants.
More than two decades later, Casa Mia continues to be family owned and operated, offering 14 comfortable rooms, an outdoor swimming pool, conference facilities, and the warm hospitality that has welcomed guests from Malawi and around the world for years.
While Casa Mia continues to grow and evolve, our philosophy remains unchanged: provide exceptional food, comfortable accommodation and genuine hospitality that keeps guests coming back.
